The Artist

I was always attracted to the expression of emotions and thoughts through art

Artistic resume

I have lived with my family (my husband and three children) in the United States (Cambridge, Massachusetts; Murray Hill, New Jersey; and Larchmont, New York). I currently live in Spain (Villanueva de la Cañada, Madrid), my permanent address.

Since childhood ...

Since childhood and my youth, I was always intrigued by the expression of emotions and thoughts through art. However, my other professional vocation, journalism, absorbed many years, decades, of my adult life. I was the correspondent for the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, among other English language publications. I left active journalism to dedicate myself wholly to painting.
Though I was born in Germany, my parents were American, and my grandparents Norwegian. I grew up between Oslo, Norway, Washington D.C. and Boston. I studied Literature and Psychology in Kalamazoo College (Michigan). My adult life has been almost entirely in Spain.

Keep the Best Momments

I have exhibited and sold part of my works, most of which were carried out in combinations of oil and acrylic, and have been exhibited in galleries, cultural centers, etc. in and around Madrid. Member of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors.

2018/11. Selected and cataloged by the Jury in the National Exhibition 85 Autumn Salon of the Asociation of Spanish painters and Sculptors (AEPE) for exhibit in Casa de Vacas del Parque del Buen Retiro, Madrid, Spain.

2019/11. 2th prize winner in the National Exhibition 86 Autumn Salon exhibit of the Spanish Association of Painters and Artists (AEPE) in Casa de Vacas, in Parque del Buen Retiro (Madrid’s Central Park), Madrid, Spain.

The studio of my life

For over 15 years, I have belonged to the painting studio of Angel Torres, a renowned Spanish painter who has been my main mentor. Thanks to his guidance, I have been exploring realistic style painting to more abstract forms, especially towards a modern figurative style that expresses some sort of narrative, a story full of tension, or the serenity of tenderness, depending on the theme.
